Altrimenti, “otherwise” in Italian, was born in 2016 from the desire to offer an innovative, accessible and quality solution to the problems posed by food waste. Its founder, Samanta Vergati, environmental economist, Neapolitan by origin, is passionate about cooking and is interested in the links between food and societal issues. She wanted to create a project capable of combining prevention and waste reduction, culinary tradition, culture and conviviality.
Thanks to her grandmother, she immersed herself from her childhood in simple and authentic cooking techniques, recipes and their stories. Observation, first, and friendly reproduction, then, have played an essential role in the transmission of this heritage.
For Altrimenti, the fight against food waste provides an innovative and unique perspective on culinary heritage and tradition. Feeding on the knowledge and know-how of the past, bringing them up to date and enhancing them with creativity, allows everyone to better control their diet while contributing to societal change and the construction of a sustainable future.
