Respect for the transmission and family heritage has been one of the values of the Burckel-Jung Estate since 1802.
The vineyard of Domaine Burckel-Jung is certified in DEMETER biodynamic agriculture. This specific mode of cultivation places respect for the terroir, the environment and the living soil and the vine, at the centre of its concerns.
Considering the environment is an essential element in the quality of the wines. After harvest, the balance of the grapes' natural environment is preserved.
The intervention of the winemaker is minimal in the cellar. Fermentation starts naturally using native yeasts. Fermentation is slow on fine lees. No additives are added. Only sulphur is used in small quantities to preserve the wine over time. A slight filtration, respecting the wine, is carried out just before bottling.
Domaine Burckel-Jung began marketing their crémant in 1986, becoming one of the first of Alsace’s small wineries to produce its own crémant.
