Dalla terra alla tavola!
Since 1833, Tenuta Castello farm, a family business backed by centuries of history and tradition, has always had its headquarters within the Castle of Desana, very close to what was called the capital of rice (Vercelli). It covers an area of 500 hectares, of which 120 are cultivated with rice of the best varieties, mainly with organic production (85%), and the remaining hectares with spelt, corn and meadows.
The family care the whole production chain, ensuring the varietal purity of rice they grow. From land preparation to harvesting, from stone-mill processing to packaging, Tenuta Castello guarantees the certainty of a controlled product in all its phases.
Respecting the product nature and the environment our rice is still traditionally worked with machinery from the early ‘900. In 2004 Tenuta Castello created an organic breeding of Piedmontese cows, currently increased to about 100, which provide the organic manure for our fields.
