Davit And Tariel Kobidze`s Marani (family wine-cellar) located in the west part of Georgia-the village of Erketi, which is in the east part of the Guria region-in the very beautiful valley of the river Supsa. Erketi is a historic village, where one can find the church of the VIII century, the ancient fortress and ruins. The historic findings, the ancient wine-jars remained until today and various aboriginal species of vine indicated at the fact that winegrowing and winemaking has been developed in the Guria region, as well as in Erketi since the old times. The most wine-makers have not lost the Georgian tradition of viniculture aged 8000 years. For the Georgians vine and wine is associated with the same phenomenon as the homeland, religion and family. Guria region has been famous for variety of vine species and high-quality wines distinguished by gustatory qualities since the ancient times.
We founded “Kobidzeebis Marani” and on the place of the old one, built the new Marani. In our collection vineyard up to 20 old varieties of Guria are grown. All members of our family have been actively involved in both caring of vineyards and wine prediction process. We give our preference to natural direction and use organic fertilizations, biological preparations and we refuse to use pesticides and chemical additives. In 2014 we started bottling. Currently, the volume of our production amounts to up to 5000 bottles. We have brand name “Dato’s Wine”.
